Bono f BeelerBCCSDip.Can.Bhv.Prac,
Co-Founder

Bono f Beeler is the Co-Founder and Funder of Canine Neuropark Trust, a Charitable Trust featuring rehabilitation fields for dogs and an educational initiative dedicated to transforming how we understand, manage, and care for dogs through the lens of modern neuroscience and behavioural biology.

Driven by a lifelong interest in dogs and a passion for learning about scientific discovery, Bono established Canine Neuropark alongside Elena Saltis, to bridge the gap between cutting-edge neuroscience and practical canine specific husbandry.
His work challenges traditional, linear views of behaviour that focuses primarily on the conditioning of to human acceptable behaviour., or the correction of unwanted behaviours.
Instead, he advocates for an integrated understanding of behaviours as the dynamic, circular expression of the brain, body and environment entangling between preparatory and consummatory cycles, to maintain efficient adaptation, safety & health.
The Canine Neuropark framework draws upon advances in systems neuroscience, active inference, predictive processing, allostasis and behavioural ecology. It recognises that behaviour is not simply a reaction to external stimuli but a continuous process through which animals regulate their internal needs while engaging with the world around them. This perspective forms the foundation of Bono's educational philosophy and practical approach to canine welfare.

A practical focus of Bono's work is the Greyhound, a breed whose unique evolutionary history offers valuable insight into canine behaviour and welfare. He has dedicated extensive study into the biological and behavioural needs of the Greyhound and other breeds, promoting species-specific husbandry that supports natural behavioural expression, affective wellbeing, and lifelong health.

Bono's thinking has been shaped by the works ethologists like Nikolaas Tinbergen, Konrad Lorenz and Wallace Craig, to the works of influential psychologists and neuroscientists like Ivan Pavlov, Ivan Sechenov, Evgeny Sokolov, Keller & Marian Breland, B. F Skinner, Gyorgy Buzsaki, Joseph LeDoux, Lisa Feldman Barrett and Karl Friston. By bringing together ideas from different scientific fields, he aims to provide dog owners and professionals with simpler, but richer, non-linear understanding of behaviour, than the traditional training models alone can offer.

His mission is not simply to teach people to train or manipulate their dogs behaviour, but to help them understand why dogs behave as they do. Through educational resources, presentations, workshops, and ongoing study, Bono encourages trainers, behaviour practitioners, veterinarians, shelter professionals, breeders and dog owners to adopt practices that respect the biological complexity of the dog.
At it's heart, Canine Neuropark is about creating environments where dogs can thrive through autonomous actions. By integrating scientific evidence with practical experiences, Bono hopes to inspire a future in which canine welfare is guided by contemporary science, compassion, and a deep appreciation of the evolutionary relationship between humans and dogs.

" When we understand how a system works, we stop asking how to control behaviour and start asking how to create the conditions in which a dogs' natural behaviour emerges and thrives alongside us humans." {Bono f Beeler}

ELENA SALTIS BSc, NZPT, APA, CCRT,
Co-Founder
Elena Saltis, Co-Founder and Funder of Canine Neuropark Trust, received her undergraduate degree in Physical Therapy at Ohio State University. She started Physiotherapy NZ Limited, a prominent, successful, multi-clinic human physio business in the South Island of New Zealand. She went on to obtain her certificate in canine rehabilitation (CCRT) from the Canine Rehabilitation Institute (CRI). After graduating she continued to hone her skills, attending post graduate courses at CRI, further study through the Australian Physiotherapy Association - Special Interest Group, and multiple internships at various facilities.
Elena went on to become an instructor for CRI in both the USA and Australia, and presented at numerous international conferences.

Elena is passionate about giving back and imparting her therapy skills on animals most in need. She established a rehabilitation clinic in Spain in partnership with the Galgo Rescue Sanctuary. She started Street Tails, a charity providing veterinary and physical therapy services to the pets of people who are homeless.
Elena also Co-Founded and developed Canine Neuropark Charity Trust through which she shares her extensive knowledge.
